Diligent maintenance with waste oil recycling plants
Used transformer oil has always been a matter of concern for a range of reasons which include profits, functionality and environmental issues. When transformer oil is purified, it increases the efficiency of the transformer and thereby enhances maintenance and reduces repair procedures and such preventive measures save repair costs and add to profits. The transformer functions efficiently and supports better production. Removal of sludge and other hazardous contents hails a sustainable environment. Waste oil recycling plants have thus become an unavoidable entity in the transformer industry.
Difference between recycling and reclamation of transformer oil
A superficial view of the concept makes one to resolve that oil reclamation and oil recycling to be the same while they are actually not so. When oxidation products and contaminants are accumulated, the environment is at stake. Recycling and reclamation are two methods of restoring used oil.
Importance of purifying transformer oil
Purity is an essential attribute of transformer oil since impurities and moisture affect the dielectric properties which in turn have a say on the insulation. The dielectric attributes serve as a coolant and protect the apparatus from over burdened heating issues.
Hering’s unbeatable expertise in transformer oil recycling
Hering VPT employs German technology in its waste oil recycling plants which ensures longevity and efficiency in the transformer oil. Not only do they recycle used transformer oils but also provide support with the expertise of trained engineers who provide training to client’s staff in maintenance of transformer oils.
Hering waste Oil recycling plants(WORP) procure 2.5 liters of high quality base oil from 4 liters of used oils whereas it takes 160 liters of crude oil to produce the same amount of base oil through other methods. The method also leaves a small footprint with minimum conversion rates that adds up to 3 times sales value of the oil when processed.
Hering WORP is customized to low, medium and high throughputs which have different flow rates of 250, 4000 and 10000 LPH and leave footprints in ranges of 450, 1250 and 2000 sqm respectively.
The waste oil recycling procedure involves non-cracking evaporation(NCE) and either Reactivation Clay Polishing System(RCPS) or Adsorbent Mineral Polishing System(AMPS). After flash evaporating water, the residual hydrocarbon is smeared in a thin film over a large area under vacuum. Consequently base oil is produced in low, medium and high viscosity. The sludge is sold as an asphalt extender and fetches revenue for the same.
The base oil undergoes RCPS or AMPS treatment which stabilizes the oil against oxidation and improves the odour, sulphur content and colour besides removing chemical substances. The waste is directly disposed of in landfills without pretreatment.
Advantages of Hering’s WORP
Hering WORP comprises benefits like low operative costs, flexible operating modes like parallel mode and series mode of operation, flexible layouts which accommodate global voltages and frequencies. The plant size is customized for oil processing capacities from 50 to 27,000 liters per hour while the waste becomes biofuel for the front end system.
On a concluding note, it is vital for the transformer industry to minimize both the transformer oil deterioration and expenses involved. By using WORP, transformer oil can be recycled for 100 times which fetches a whooping profit by itself.
