The Dialogarts publishing house of the State University of Rio de Janeiro has just published the book From one hell to another: The Latin migrant in Crisis by Jorge Majfud, the critic and academic Dr. Leonor Taiano (University of Notre Dame), with a prologue to Professor Ana Cristina dos Santos, from the University of Rio de Janeiro.
The book is a profound analysis of the novel Crisis, by the Uruguayan American writer Jorge Majfud, originally published in Spain (Editorial baile del Sol) in 2012, and which delves into the drama of Latin American immigrants in the United States, mainly in the context of the Great Recession of the year 2008. Taiano analyzes the plurality of characters and the multidimensionality of each one, from his psychological perspective as cultural and political.
Both the novel Crisis de Majfud and the careful study of Leonor Taiano gain greater validity today, when the same dramas and individual and social problems have multiplied in the great country of the North, almost ten years later.
The academic Leonor Taiano is a graduate of the University of Salamanca and a doctor from the University of Tromsø de Norguega. He has presented part of his studies on the work of Majfud in different universities in Europe and the United States.
