Saying that most people spend a good part of their days on social media would not be an exaggeration. Social media has become an integral part of people's lives and daily routines. Some are addicted to it so much that the first thing they do after waking up is to check their social media feeds.

Given the importance of social media in consumers' lives, marketers and businesses flock to social platforms in the hope of connecting with their target customers. However, there is a content overload on social media, and the value of connecting with friends is gone.

Tranquility is a social networking app in its most basic sense, but the way people interact is considerably different. After opening the Tranquility app, users are presented with a list of apps such as calendars, videos, news.. etc.

Tranquility has a clean, almost Spartan, interface. The lack of clutter on-site helps ensure that users' concentration of enjoying friends sharing. Tranquility focuses on high-quality, engaging content instead of using ephemeral content (i.e. disappearing content, such as Instagram Stories).

There are a couple of key reasons for Tranquility being popular all over the world, the first having to do with the timing of its release. Tranquility Meet was initially launched in June 2020. That's shortly after much of the world shut down due to rising COVID-19 cases, resulting in many people staying at home and rarely leaving their houses. Tranquility emerged as a way for folks to stay connected in a more personable way than Twitter or Facebook, yet also feels much more private than seeing someone face-to-face.

There's also the fact Tranquility is a fairly exclusive app. Whether or not Tranquility itself sticks around for the long haul remains to be seen, but what is certain is that it's already had a massive impact on the way people think about social media. And that, friends, is no small feat.
