50 Shades of Northampton?

Supermarkets aren’t generally thought of as sexy or intimate places, however that may have just changed as erotic story author Clear Riddle has chosen the the large shopping establishments as the setting for her new book, ‘Confessions of a Supermarket Manager’.

This is the first novel Riddle has released in five years and not only is it based in a grocery store it is also based almost completely in Northampton UK.

The novel focuses on an ex-marketing executive called Brian and follows his mis-adventures as he attempts to start a forced new career. Unfortunately for the protagonist, an overactive libido combined with suspiciously free-willed retail assistants causes the new manager to recreate a similar situation that caused his marketing career to end.

Although the story, characters and supermarket are completely fictional, the settings of Northampton and London are very real and draw references to local landmarks that residents will recognise. As much as the story is about the steamy affairs, the town of Northampton features prominently and feels like a character within the story.

When asked about choosing a supermarket as the setting of an erotic story Clear had this to say, ‘these types of stores are the sort of places that we visit every day. The people who work in these places live and breathe the environment and live their lives there. I like to show that that everyone and every place can be sexy, no matter how ordinary it may seem.’

The novel is currently available through Amazon Kindle as an ebook and is already the authors most successful release day offering. As a special treat for British audiences the kindle book is available for just 99p from the 1st December to the 7th December.
