Nestlé to spend $70m in cookie dough manufacturing in Wisconsin

Nestle is renovating a Wisconsin candy factory to increase cookie dough production.

America loves cookie dough

In the USA, 7 billion cookies are eaten each year. That comes out to about 3 cookies a day or over 1,000 cookies each and every year per person. More than half of these cookies are homemade. No wonder schools, teams and kids non-profit groups hold cookie dough fundraisers to raise money each year.

In fact there is a whole industry surrounding helping educational facilities sell more cookie dough.

Thanks to Nestle there will be plenty dough for everyone.

Factory conversion from candy to Toll House dough

Right now the plant currently is producing 100 Grand bars, Raisinets, Buncha Crunch and Nestle Crunch bars. The plan is to start making Nestle Toll House refrigerated cookie dough.

The price tag? 70 million dollars for the factory conversion.

That is good news for job hunters in Burlington, Wisconsin . Lauren Rubbo, a spokesperson at Nestle. “We’ll be looking to fill more than 100 positions by May 2022.”

The conversion will be the largest change at the plant in its 55-year history.

The factory will reportedly continue making chocolate chip morsels alongside cookie dough, and the first batches of cookie dough are expected to begin production next spring or summer. source:kenoshanews.com/news/local/nestl-plans-70-million-makeover-in-burlington-to-start-making-cookie-dough/article_9aa644f7-f5cd-570e-84ed-c03149bf830d.html
