Venture Alliance Investment Fund (L) Berhad (“VAI” or “The Fund”), one of the leading and exclusive offshore private equity funds in the Southeast Asian regions is looking to expand its investment portfolio regionally and globally. VAI was launched on 1st January 2021, is targeting to raise more than USD100 million by end of year 2022 from qualified professionals and institutional investors in the region.
“At VAI, we believe that innovation and new technology will be a major driver of growth and can deliver superior returns to investors. We look for established businesses with exciting technologies meeting our investment criteria, but above all we visit companies and meet the people behind them. We back management teams with both vision and the single-minded focus to deliver results,” says Elven Choo Siew Horng, the director of VAI. With 5 projects in the final stage of discussion for potential investment, VAI continues to look for new and upcoming companies to invest in. Targeted industries are Financial Services, E-Commerce, Digital Media and Advertising, Platform and Sofware as a service, and Banking as a service.
VAI’s strategy is to source opportunities offering superior long-term capital appreciation through investments in companies in the technology space. This is a focus which they believe is underpinned by the global drivers of demand for new technology:
- New age consumer products and brands
- Retail and Consumer market technologies
- Physical or cyber-security and terrorism threats drive demand for security technology
- Forefront Financial Technologies
- Squeezed corporate budgets have increased the focus on enhancing efficiency and reducing costs using technology.
VAI is looking for companies that meet their investment criteria: patentable, differentiated technology with strong IP; clearly identified addressable markets; scalable business models; attractive valuations; and above all strong management teams. They look for established businesses with exciting technologies meeting these criteria, but above all they visit companies and meet the people behind them. They back management teams with both vision and the single-minded focus to deliver results.
“We carry out a comprehensive due diligence process on each company for which we undertake to raise funding, including company visits and conference calls. Each company is then required to provide a presentation as well as a detailed Information Memorandum for investors, and we generally also commission a short video in which the senior management team can present the technology and the commercial opportunity directly to prospective investors,” added Elven Choo Siew Horng.
“We monitor the progress of all our portfolio companies closely, and the agreements also include our rights to appoint a Non-Executive Director or Observer to the Board, depending on our interest in the company.”
To all aspiring founders and entrepreneurs with a business proposition that fits the above requirement, please reach out to proposals@vai-privatefund.com. VAI is open to receive any business overview, financial reports or projections, and other relevant documents, and will review them accordingly. We are interested in an exciting business proposal, regardless of country, gender, races and religion.
