Stankevicius MGM: Why PR is needed even for individuals and small startups?

Today, people assume that public relations (PR) is something only for celebrities or big companies to utilize. However one thing people forget is that we live already in 2020, where culture has evolved and people are more brave than ever before. Today, everybody wants to make things on their own, start their own business and build their own personal profile.

Why all that hustle for personal development? Simply, because there are too many people who can do the same things like you and me, and the only way to differentiate is to become different and do different things from the general crowd.

For individuals career and employment are important matters. Many might think that applying for a job is easy, just create a CV and submit. Maybe that could work in very local places but if you are applying for a job in London, New York or Dubai, you may need something more special in your CV than just a regular background information.

Companies tend to hire people who are extraordinary, have new perspectives and opinions, and could truly impact the company's overall performance. Companies look not just for skillful but also influential people. That’s why building your personal profile is very important. It is important to make sure your expertise are seen clearly not just on CV but on the internet. Companies want to hire experts and if you are competing against other professionals in your industry you want to make sure you come out as strong as you can.

PR for individuals is not telling the public that you are the Queen of England or very rich. In the modern days, utilizing PR smartly is about sharing your industry knowledge to the public. Having that industry knowledge published and linked in your CV would impress your future employer.

PR for small startups has the same objective. If you are a small business, it does not mean you should not have a voice. If you are doing a startup in the first place, it means you are fighting a problem, so sharing your expertise and knowledge of the industry, and how to overcome that problem would result in building positive PR for your startup.

Nowadays, attention is expensive, but you can still get if through quality and exclusivity. Just don’t settle for average and always keep pushing your personal limits further.
