Austin’s SIMS Foundation Teams up with Rock Band frontman to Tackle Bipolar Disorder

Austin, Texas (September 24, 2020) Railer Frontman Randall Scott has announced a partnership between The SIMS Foundation partnership and Bipolar Documentary, LLC to build awareness for an upcoming music-related documentary on bipolar disorder.

The Austin-based rock band Railer have announced that their frontman, Randall Scott is teaming up with Austin’s SIMS Foundation for a Kickstarter campaign to build awareness for an upcoming documentary called BIPOLAR.

BIPOLAR is a feature-length documentary by two-time Academy Award winner Bill Guttentag about undiagnosed mental illness. It unfolds through a desperate husband’s raw home videos as he attempts to save his family during his wife’s transformation from loving mother to a destructive stranger. The documentary sheds much-needed light on the disease which ultimately took the life of Randall's late wife, Michelle.

The band Railer has also made its name in the music industry. They twice won ‘Best Band in Portland’ and their drummer Jason Sechrist went on to play in ‘Portugal. The Man’ before Randall relocated to Austin, Texas in 2017. Randall has since rebuilt a new lineup of the band, and they were scheduled to play SXSW2020 before Covid-19 canceled the event.

In teaming up with Austin’s SIMS Foundation for the promotion of BIPOLAR, Randall Scott showcases Railer’s commitment to enlightening people and musicians about mental illnesses and the challenges faced by the disabled.

"As a musician that has experienced tragedies stemming from mental illness, I am proud to team up with the SIMS Foundation," says White. "It's time to tackle stigma harder than ever".
