Seattle, Washington — Study in the USA, the longest-running magazine for international students, is expanding circulation and distribution by acquiring American Campus and its portfolio of magazines.
Beginning January 2019, Study in the USA will publish the quarterly American Campus, which appears as a supplement to leading youth publications in China, India and Mexico. The combined circulation is more than 1.4 million copies.
“American Campus represents an ideal expansion of our business,” said Renait Stephens, CEO of Study in the USA. “It adds both reach and frequency to our current operation.”
Both publications provide key information about North American colleges and universities to international students and connect them with reputable programs.
Future issues of American Campus, launched five years ago by former New York Times executives Barbara Gaynes and Gloria B. Anderson, will be rebranded as Study in the USA’s American Campus.
Study in the USA will also offer news and advertising on the websites and social-media channels of American Campus’ co-publishers, which reach more than 5 million unique viewers.
“The important mission of American Campus will be assured as part of Study in the USA’s family,” said Ms. Anderson. “It’s always been our goal to help less widely known U.S. schools build their brands abroad.”
In 2016-17, the number of international students enrolled in U.S. institutions reached a record high of 1.08 million, the 11th consecutive year of growth, according to the Institute for International Education’s Open Doors report. However, the number of new international students enrolled for the first time declined by nearly 10,000, a 3 percent decrease from the previous year.
“Given increasing competition from schools in Australia, England and other English-speaking countries,” Ms. Stephens said, “North American schools need to redouble their outreach and reassure foreign students there’s a welcoming place for them here. Study in the USA and American Campus offer strong, effective ways to do that.”
Study in the USA, headquartered in Seattle, WA, provides reputable higher education programs with omnichannel marketing and lead generation to reach and engage international students. StudyUSA.com has more than 7.6 million visitors annually and Study in the USA publishes more than 365,000 copies of its magazines, which are distributed annually at international education fairs, EducationUSA offices, schools and agencies in more than 100 countries.
