The World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2023 is set to unfold magnificently from the 6th to the 8th of July

The World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2023 (WAIC2023) will be held in Shanghai from July 6th to 8th (UTC+8). This year's illustrious gathering orbits around the central theme of "Intelligent Connectivity, Generating Future", striving to amply leverage and celebrate the unique influence of the conference in domains such as technological innovation, practical application, industrial development, and sector governance. With a rich tapestry of diverse components, the assembly encompasses sessions, exhibitions, contests, functional applications, and talent development initiatives.

The Conference has been meticulously crafted following a "1+2+10+N" layout, featuring one opening ceremony and main forum, two plenary sessions (focusing on science and industry), ten thematic forums, and a closing ceremony, all supplemented by nearly a hundred sectoral forums and characteristic activities.

The conference will concentrate on distinguished guests, leading the future trends of the industry. It will feature over 1,400 heavyweight luminaries from the scientific community, including Turing laureates like David Patterson, Joseph Sifakis, Manuel Blum, and Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, alongside Nobel laureate Michael Levitt. In addition, the leading talents from over 50 leading global corporations, including the likes of Tesla, Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent, and Baidu, will grace the stage with their compelling presence.

Internationally recognized organizations, such as the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, alongside global professional associations and groups, such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Metaverse Standards Association, and the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI), will partake in this grand event to collectively propel the coordinated advancement of the international AI ecosystem.

Within the main venue's exhibition space of 50,000 square meters, more than 400 enterprises will showcase their innovations, spanning four primary sections: core technologies, intelligent terminals, application empowerment, and frontier technologies. The displays will cover large-scale models, robotics, autonomous driving, and many more fields, while also unveiling over 30 premieres and first-time exhibition products.

A highlight of the conference is the globally influential competition segment. The establishment of the SAIL Awards has drawn innovative breakthroughs from across the world, with the preliminary top 30 already selected. In the adjudication process for the Best Young Research Paper Award, careful scrutiny has led to the birth of ten victorious entries out of over 200 submissions worldwide. In addition, the conference will host four benchmark competitions: The World Artificial Intelligence Innovation Competition (AIWIN), The Best Practices of Applied Algorithms (BPAA), WAIC HACKATHON, and The Youth Artificial Intelligence Innovation Competition, which together have attracted registrations from over 3,000 teams.

In the realm of application, the conference will accentuate the promotion of widespread use of intelligent scenarios, endeavoring to realize a seamless linkage between offline physical venues and online platforms. Innovatively, the conference has elevated its online Metaverse exhibition platform and extensively adopted frontier technologies, such as digital humans. By setting audience interaction check-points at landmark locations like Lujiazui and Xuhui AI Tower, the conference enables attendees to participate in a comprehensive and profound manner.

The conference equally emphasizes the crucial support of talent, hence the organization of a specialized summit forum on AI talent to delve into the needs and development trends in the AI talent landscape. The Youth Pioneers in AI Forum, specifically held for under-30 talents demonstrating potential in AI, provides a space for the new generation of AI elites to exchange ideas and learn. Moreover, diverse open activities such as open-source fairs, book clubs, and technical workshops are another shining highlight of the conference.

Unquestionably, WAIC2023 will serve as a grand confluence for the global artificial intelligence realm, providing an imperative platform to stimulate technological innovation, foster industrial development, and cultivate talent.
