IIT-IIM duo raises INR 10 crore for its Contemporary Ayurved brand, Blue Nectar

Blue Nectar, a Gurgaon based D2C, contemporary Ayurvedic brand, has raised INR 10 crore in its pre-Series A funding round. Marquee investors in this round included Alok Bansal (Co-founder & Exec Vice Chairman, Policy Bazaar), Alpesh Shah (Sr Partner & MD, BCG India), Mohit Saxena (Co- founder, InMobi), Raj Nair (Chairman, Avalon Consulting), Sudhanshu Vats (Deputy MD Pidilite

Industries Limited), Sachi Thomas (Executive VP & Director, Nestle Nutrition), Vijay Nehra (Finance & Investor Relations, Indiabulls) among others.

The new capital will be used towards marketing – to acquire and retain customers and towards building an organization team. Other than this, Blue Nectar is looking at expanding its product range across various segments.

Blue Nectar is a journey of discovery and innovation of two enthusiastic IIT-IIM graduate duo. They loved traditions and didn’t believe in blind faith. Their love for tradition and disregard for blind faith created a paradox that made Sanyog Jain and Kapil Dhameja embark on a journey that resulted in the creation of Blue Nectar in 2017.

“The concept of contemporary Ayurved is to make Ayurved more adaptable. Our motto is to make Ayurved a science of choice and lifestyle, rather than being relied on at times of disease or pandemic”, says Kapil Dhameja.

“We want to change the persona of Ayurved from traditional, non-appealing to Sensory Ayurved, which is glamourous and attractive and has natural yet pleasing aroma”.

Just recently, Blue Nectar had launched first of its kind – Nani Approved Baby Care Products, enriched with goodness of Ghee.

After more than 12 months of research, 27 plus recipe iteration and 33 natural ingredients trial, Blue Nectar launched its ‘Baby Care’ range. All the products in this range are clean, natural, safe and Nani Approved.

As per the ancient Ayurvedic texts, Ghee is believed to enhance ‘Ojas’ or ‘Life of Energy’.

Traditionally, our grandparents also advocated the use of Ghee for massaging Baby’s delicate skin and hair. The hydration provided by Ghee is truly long lasting as it is rich in Vitamin A, C, D, K and fatty acid. Ghee not only acts like a protective barrier but also heals skin and promotes healthy hair.

As a part of its research, Blue Nectar had run a campaign on its social media asking its followers if their grandparents also advocated use of ghee for babies? It wasn’t much of a surprise to know that most of the grandparents used Ghee for massaging babies.

“Our nani-dadi   always happened to have natural tips and tricks that could work for any skin or hair related issue. Nani inspired recipes are the base of all our products. With these recipes, we bring the traditional, safe yet effective products that are rich in Ayurvedic Herbs and could help an individual to be beautiful, naturally”, says Sanyog Jain.

“Blue Nectar is ‘Essence of Nature’ in contemporary form, where ‘Blue’ denotes nature - colour of sky and water and ‘Nectar’ means essence. Blue Nectar originated with a firm belief that nature holds all answers. Taking cues from nature and recipes from Ayurved, we have formulated recipes that would meet the needs of millennials in India and rest of the world”, added Kapil Dhameja.

All the ingredients at Blue Nectar (www.bluenectar.co.in) are made using natural herbs, which are clearly declared on the product packaging. This makes Blue Nectar a transparent and unique brand that mentions the herb quotient of each product.
