The booming competition among industries and increasing demand for production have put transformers in exasperating pressure. In a drive to meet such a demand effortlessly and sustain for a longer period, transformers need multi perspective care of which transformer oil filtration system is one. High quality of insulating oil translates into efficiency and production of the transformer. Hering transformer oil removes excess moisture as well as volatile acids from the fluids, leading to enhanced performance. Ensuring quality of insulating fluids during filling alone does not suffice because such fluids in course of time are challenged by increasing voltages and rough handling which hammers the transformer’s longevity.
Transformer’s role in transmitting and distributing power and reliability is aptly supported by hassle-free transformer oil. Not only does the oil transfer the heat developed in the transformer but also helps survive the stress caused by heavy loading and short circuit. In the course of time after regular operations, transformer oil collapses from its quality and consistency, thanks to oxidation and thermal byproducts that settle in the oil. To avert massive damage, the transformer oil is treated accordingly so that the transformer’s lifespan is accentuated.
Let’s have a closer look at the polluted oil which shows traces of moisture, sludge material and acidic contents. Hering oil filtration system removes such sludges and unwanted impurities. Transformer oil is pumped in the filtration machine through an inlet pump in the onsite. The oil gets heated up and distinguishes moisture and dissolved gases from the transformer oil. The oil now passes through a series of filters which are of different sizes and eliminate particles accordingly. Filter of 1mm perforations holds particles bigger than that size and sludges bigger than 50 microns, cannot pass through filter of such size.
Transformer oil filtration systems differ in purposes and a streamlined approach is what keeps Hering VPT, a favorite of its customers. Client requirements vary inclusive of advanced overhaul of transformer oil or perhaps a comprehensive treatment of the transformer. The treated oil enters an ionic chamber where acid contaminants are treated and eliminated. To remove the moisture content and dissolved gases, the transformer fluid is injected to steel body dehydration chamber which subjects the oil to high vacuum. A thin layer of oil made of copper or aluminum eliminates dissolved gases after which the filtered oil is delivered. Repeating the process for recommended few number of times restores quality of the oil.
