European Deputies Wrote A Collective Letter To The Prince Of Monaco

European politicians asked the President of the European Parliament to evaluate the actions of the Russian oligarch Vladimir Melnichenko and verify the legality of his presence in the EU.

An appeal to the head of PACE was written by the Chairman of the Action party Ruslan Pankratov (Latvia) and the Chairman of the Socialist People’s Front Giedrius Grabauskas (Lithuania).

In addition, a member of the Aktsiya party, political analyst Einar Graudins (Latvia) made a video message to PACE. In it, the politician spoke sharply  about Melnichenko, who "stole money from the Russian people."

"In Monaco, the situation is provocative. The businessman "places there money stolen from Kuzbass and tries to oppose himself to the justice system, the system of ethical standards and moral values of EU countries," he said.

Politicians demanded the European Commission to conduct an investigation in connection with the suspicions   and the threat of the EU. “We ask you to evaluate the activities of Melnichenko,” the appeal to PACE said. The authors note that they doubt the legality of the origin of the capital of the Russian oligarch and ask to check the source of Melnichenko’s financing.

Recall that earlier in Monaco there was a procession against the actions of the Russian oligarch, who had bought land in Monte Carlo and had demolished historic villas there to build a hotel. In addition, Vladimir Melnichenko is known in Russia for scandals related to tax fraud.
