Pastor Evans Fighting to Save 70,000 Starving Dorian Refugees with GoFundMe Campaign

Millions of dollars collected by other organizations are not providing adequate care.

Miami, FL – Pastor Evans and social justice crusader, Shari Glixman, are desperately fighting to save 70,000 starving Dorian refugees with their GoFundMe campaign.

On September 6th, 2019, Hurricane Dorian ferociously swept over the Abaco Islands, leaving 70,000+ residents stranded and homeless.  While shelters were put in place after the tragedy, all 70,000 refugees are continuing to suffer as a result of poor living conditions.

To help these innocent people to regain basic human necessities, Pastor Evans and social justice crusader, Shari Glixman, have started a GoFundMe campaign to raise much-needed funds.

“Nothing has changed in the shelters since day one,” says Glixman.  “I have been in communication with children inside the camps and they are desperately trying to get word out that conditions are rapidly deteriorating, each and every day.  It is clear that donations are not getting to the refugees in Abaco and we must do everything we can to help.”

In her communication with children inside the refugee camps, Glixman has discovered horrifying facts about the living conditions inside, including:

  • All shelters are overcrowded
  • 3 out of 4 bathroom stalls are broken
  • Rice is the only food they are being fed, sometimes only once per day
  • Reporters are refused entry by the military to record what is really happening
  • Only tap for washing clothing and bathing has been capped and shut off
  • Indoor wash-house is only for use with money, which they do not have
  • No access to clean clothing
  • No milk for babies or nursing mothers

“These conditions are absolutely deplorable,” states Glixman.  “This is all happening just 80 miles from the coast of Florida, so how can this be allowed to happen?”

“I personally called the Prime Ministers office, the Red Cross, FEMA, and all had the same response – ‘it is not our responsibility,’” says Pastor Evans.  “These people are human beings who lost their homes, their loved ones, and now their dignity.  I cannot understand why human beings such as these are being stripped of their basic human rights.  We must do everything we can to get them the help they deserve.”

To provide immediate assistance to the refugees, Pastor Evans and Glixman are collecting donations through a GoFundMe campaign run by Evans’ church.  Money will go directly towards the basic necessities of these people by providing milk daily, nutritious meals, undergarments, and anything else that can be provided.

“If we can send plumbers to fix the bathrooms, we will,” states Evans, “We the people will help our brethren, but we need your support.”

Already, the church has provided a chef to one overcrowded shelter in central Nassau who delivers fresh food as often as possible.  The group hopes to start with the next shelter soon, but resources are extremely limited.
