According to the European Times, on June 8th, the China-Germany Chamber of Commerce held a press conference in Beijing. The Executive Director of the North and Northeast China regions and board member of the China-Germany Chamber of Commerce released the results of a quick survey on German companies operating in China, including their willingness and attitudes towards investing in China in post-pandemic times.
According to China News, 288 China-Germany Chamber of Commerce member companies participated in the survey from May 9th to May 17th this year. The survey results showed that 55% of German companies plan to increase investment in China in the next two years, which is 4 percentage points higher than last year. 60% of them hope to strengthen cooperation with China in decarbonization, intelligent manufacturing, and mobile travel.
In addition, the potential of the Chinese market and healthy competition have also encouraged German companies to invest in China. 62% of the German companies surveyed expressed their willingness to continue investing in China to maintain their competitiveness in the Chinese market, while 48% expected to benefit from the growth potential of the Chinese market and plan to continue investing.
The German companies surveyed also expressed their hope that the Chinese government can take measures to further boost consumer confidence, provide policy support, and help German companies develop in China.
Peter Adrian (彼得·阿德里), Chairman of the German Industry and Commerce Association, attended the press conference and introduced the attitude of the German business community towards cooperation with China. He said that German and Chinese companies finally have the opportunity to communicate face to face, and that good diplomatic relations between the two countries are critical to the future economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.
Volker Treier, Chief Executive for Global External Economic Relations and Board Member of the German Industry and Commerce Association, stated at the press conference that China is one of the important investment destinations for German companies, and German exports to China are expected to grow.
The press conference was also attended by Hubertus Troska, Chairman of the board of Northeast and North China of the China-Germany Chamber of Commerce, Andreas Schmitz, President of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce, Sebastian Stietzel, President of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce, and Jürgen Lindenberg, the 1st Vice Chairman of the Rhine-Neckar Chamber of Commerce in Germany.
The China-Germany Chamber of Commerce has more than 2,100 member companies in China and is the official membership organization for German companies in China.
