“LEADERSHIP” is all about TEAM WORK -CA Pawan KR Agarwal, (Author of “12 Mantras of Effortless Leadership”)

“Leadership”is all about Team Work.

TEAM signifies “Together everybody achieves more”

The objective of teamwork is to produce a combined outcome that is far greater than the outcome achieved individually. Each member accepts the other on an as-is where-is basis. The deficiencies of group members are accepted with humility and each member contributes to or supplements the efforts of the weaker members to create a synergy.

A good starting point for each member is to identify his strengths and weaknesses. A SWOT analysis is a much talked about acronym which means strength, weakness, opportunities, and threats. Out of these four, the first two are extremely important to form a harmonious and cooperative team and to increase the values and effectiveness of the entire team. Let us take a simple example of a team of two members consisting of Mr. X and Mr. Y as shown in the table below:

Having identified their strengths and weaknesses, both Mr. X and Mr. Y form a team.

Mr. X has a lot of ideas but cannot communicate them effectively. On the other hand, Mr. Y is a good communicator but short of ideas. Mr. X contributes his ideas to the team and Mr. Y reframes the same in a presentable format and then gives the presentation to the client. This is a win-win situation for both of them. They supplement each other’s shortcomings and jointly form a strong team that is bound to win.

There are spin-off benefits of identifying weaknesses and strengths. Mr. X now knows that he is weak in communication. So, he takes steps to improve his communication skills, may be by attending workshops, training programs, etc. Similarly. Mr. Y can improve his creativity by developing creative/design thinking and skills.
