Brandon, MB––September 13, 2022: Theoretically, there is no limit to the size of a file, but in practicality, QuickBooks Pro and Premier should not ideally exceed beyond 150MB. QuickBooks Enterprise, on the other hand, starts straining at around 1GB.

Files that extend beyond these limits could result in a painfully slow running file and opens a path to database corruption and more.

List items such as classes, customers, jobs, are also limited. With QuickBooks Pro and Premier, if the total number of items cannot exceed 10,000 overall and 100,000 for Enterprise.

To ensure that transactions are data are maintained within their healthy limits, cleaning up company data assists with replacing most transactions from the previous years by much smaller monthly journal entries. The details on previous years are gone, but the P&L and balance sheet would remain intact.
