Aiming for revenues of $ 5 billion in the short term and $ 10 billion in the medium term in Turkish health tourism, Turkey is introducing its ‘healing’ face to the world.
Before Covid-19, Turkey's medical tourism turnover was at the level of $ 3 billion. 50 percent of this turnover is made up of Istanbul hair transplant, and the remaining 50 percent is made up of face plastic surgery, body aesthetic, eye surgery, bariatric, IVF, dental veneers and implant Antalya, and general health services. The expenditure of a tourist in this context is calculated as an average of 2 thousand dollars. The return on services such as accommodation, shopping, eating and drinking are estimated to be around 1500 dollars. Noting that health tourism is growing quite rapidly in the world, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Turkey iHealth drew attention to the importance of ensuring regulations in such a dynamic area with the same speed. “If it wasn't for the coronavirus, we would have captured $5 billion," was said.
The ‘Heal in Turkey’ portal established for health tourism, will become the face of Turkey in this field. “It is still in its infancy, the attacks it will make will be in the following years,” iHealth said, adding that hospitals and doctors in this area can offer one-stop services to tourists by registering.
