Ban On Standing Room Alert At Streetwear Fashion Show

Company issues apology to previous attendees who had to deal with overcrowding at New York Fashion Week

New York, New York. November 6, 2018, — Street Fashion Week announced today that the company has voluntarily placed a ban on "standing room" at their New York Fashion Week shows. This comes in response to overcrowding at their show due to a higher demand than the company anticipated and walk-in attendees. The powerful shift of high fashion into the streetwear market is evidenced by all the big brand collaborations that we will continue to see more of but, also in the popular response to Street Fashion Week- The first and only platform that offers emerging Streetwear designers a voice during fashion week seasons. This past New York Fashion Week, the company attracted a cult crowd of over 3,000 guests for a venue capacity of only 1,500 which negatively affects the experience of industry insiders and designers. Street Fashion Week is also increasing their workforce through complementary hires and team expansion to properly serve the new demand.

To address this issue as quickly and effectively as possible, the company fired its lead Event Producer, Creative Director, and a team of stylists. Street Fashion Week is also working with local Press and Retailers to identify how to curate a Fashion Week experience that encourages support from Industry Professionals.

Our mission of affordability comes with some production challenges, and we anticipate improvement as we continue to align ourselves with organizations whose mission is complementary to ours. We are grateful for the support and are always striving to meet our audience and designer's expectations.”

“We have procedures in place to organize a controlled environment as we had in the past, but in this particular case our manpower was not enough to manage the crowd we attracted,” said Troy Bowie Street Fashion Week’s Communication Manager.“We are hiring new staff to support the company’s growth and to ensure such events do not reoccur.”

Street Fashion Week is also splitting their shows into multiple times to accommodate the large crowds. Instead of one show a day; they will be producing three shows in one day. We are honored that people have such a positive response to our platform and will continue to do everything in our power to elevate guest experience at each show. If any similar problem is discovered, Street Fashion Week will continue to take prompt, responsible remedial actions.

Street Fashion Week will only accept RSVP’s as is consistent with the capacity limitations of their next venue. All guests at the show must be seated. To offer guests additional opportunities to attend shows, they will be producing three shows in one day instead of one. Guests who were unable to attend previous shows are offered VIP passes and complimentary transportation to the February 2019 show.
